Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs:
Last week I was invited inside the brand new Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs location to take a sneak peek at what’s going on inside. My family is thrilled Great Wolf Lodge is expanding into Colorado, so I jumped at the chance to slip on a pair of wolf ears (on a hardhat even!) and take a look around. Those familiar with the Great Wolf Lodge properties will be happy to know their favorite experiences will still be found here, but we are all in store for a few surprises and Great Wolf Lodge firsts!
Wiley, Great Wolf Lodge’s signature mascot, met us wearing his construction gear, which as you will see from the pictures was definitely appropriate. Although this was a media introduction to the property, it is still under heavy construction and much of the information and experiences shared with us needed a little imagination to come to life. With that being said, the finished parts we saw and the family adventures soon waiting for us are incredible. So, let’s get started with the tour.
Water Park Attractions
Anyone driving up and down the I-25 corridor can see these humongous water slides protruding from the outside of the building. Let me introduce you to the Howlin’ Tornado and Alberta Falls. Alberta Falls (the blue one) is a tandem tube ride, four-stories tall and full of twists and turns. The Howlin’ Tornado is a four-person raft ride taking you through a series of turns before dropping you into a six-story funnel of fun! These are just the beginning of the water park attractions the Colorado Springs location will offer. For the thrill-seekers, perhaps a turn on the Mountain Edge Raceway or even the Wolf Tail – a single-rider steps into a capsule-like launch pod where the floor drops out and sends you on a nearly 20-ft free fall followed by a high-speed 360. For younger guests or those not ready to face the rapids there are plenty of other areas and smaller attractions including slides, a wave pool, splash and climbing areas, Fort McKenzie and even a special area for those guests under 52″.
Indoor Adventure Park
When you’re done splashing around in the water park, there is an indoor adventure park just waiting for you to explore. Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs also offers a 21′ rock climbing wall, mini-bowling alley, a 9-hole miniature golf course, an arcade, a mining attraction and even a 20′ ropes and climbing course.
Dining
All that playing is sure to make you hungry! Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs will offer dining choices to please any occasion and palate. You’ll be able to grab a quick bite at the pool, pick-up pizza for your room, dine buffet style with the family or try Barnwood. Unique to the Colorado Springs location, this farm-to-fork dining experience offers local meats, cheeses and produce in small, shareable plates with craft cocktails. The menu will change based on what is available or in season and a giant chalkboard state map will showcase which area and farm the ingredients come from. I definitely can’t wait to try it out! There will also be a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Ben & Jerry’s, yep, ice cream and donuts.
Accommodations
So, I am sure you’re wondering about the where you can rest your head after all this fun and food. There are three room types available: standard, themed and premium. Each category offers plenty of room for the family and refrigerators and microwaves.
The standard suites offer a queen bed, a king bed (accessible) or double queens with a sofa sleeper and can sleep between 4-6 depending on room. The themed suites offer either the Wolf Den or Kids Cabin in the room. These special areas offer fun wall paper, bunk beds and even their own TV. My kids are going to love them!
These room still offer a queen bed and some have a sofa sleeper too, sleeping between 4-7. The premium suites offer plenty of beds and room for larger families sleeping 6-9.
Extras
Along with all of the water park and adventure park activities, there are also PJ parties with Wiley and his pals, afternoon activities in the lobby, a mother-daughter ice-cream themed nail salon and MagiQuest.
MagiQuest is an interactive adventure throughout the resort where you battle dragons, decipher clues and unlock magical powers with your custom wand to save the enchanted realm. Fun! Beyond the resort extras, the view isn’t too bad either.
I know my family is excited to stay and explore the new Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs later this year and don’t forget, if you book before September 30, you can save up to 30% with the Grand Opening Offer. Also, military and first responders will want to take advantage of their Howling Heroes offer. Take a look at both offers here. I’ll be sharing more as the opening grows closer! Hope to see you all there soon!
