The hour plus drive north to Denver International Airport (DIA) isn’t always the best. Between congestion, accidents and unpredictable weather, it’s hard to tell just how much time you need for delays before you even reach the airport.
To avoid some of the unpredictability, especially before early morning flights, often we will drive up and stay the night before at a nearby hotel. But, where to stay? Are there family-friendly options for a family of 5? What’s close to the airport? Do they offer airport transportation?
We’re always up for exploring new places and the lovely folks at the Hyatt Place Peña Station invited our family to come take a look, stay the night and check out just what they have to offer.
Hyatt Place Peña Station
As you step inside the lobby, you’ll first notice the fresh new flooring and the crisp paint on the walls, but beyond the clean, new interior you’ll find incredible decor. The hotel lobby doubles as an art museum featuring retro styles and reclaimed art. There’s no missing the giant buffalo watching guests come and go. “Bluffy” as my kids called him is stunningly detailed reclaimed art piece.
He might be the most noticeable, but you’ll find several other pieces of artwork throughout the main areas.
Guest Rooms
I love new hotel rooms! They’re clean, fresh and a perfect place to call home for the night. The Hyatt Place Peña Station has a variety of guest rooms. They also offer connecting rooms that are perfect for groups or large families.
During our stay, we had a king bed room and a connecting queen room. Each room offered a sitting area (with a pull out bed) and having two bathrooms is always ideal with a family of five.
Oh, the beds! Hyatt beds do not disappoint! They are so comfortable and offer a wonderful night’s rest.
Hotel Amenities
Does it have a pool? That’s always the first question my kids ask when we say we are staying at a hotel. Yes, there is a heated-indoor pool and a guest fitness room complete with a Peloton.
You will also find a gorgeous business center to get some work done or check those flights and a gaming corner for the kids to enjoy.
Dining
The hotel offers a restaurant and bar. We enjoyed dinner with drinks and breakfast. The food was good and they offer several local Colorado craft beers.
The breakfast buffet offers plenty of fresh choices. From eggs and meat, to steel-cut oatmeal and fresh fruit, everyone will be able to find something to enjoy before you head out on your adventure.
There is also a Starbucks in the lobby serving your favorite morning brew, pastries and sandwiches.
Should you be running in and out like we so often are, or find yourself needing a midnight snack, there is also a grab and go market 24-hour market offering snacks and drinks.
Hotel Parking & Transportation
Location, location, location! The Hyatt Place Peña Station hotel is near DIA. It is only 10-miles west of Denver International Airport. While that’s convenient enough, the hotel is also a very short walk to the nearest RTD rail station.
Extended parking is available for a fee, should you choose to stay and need to leave your car. They also offer a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle.
