Disney has a funny way of not only bringing families together on magical vacations, but also by bringing fans together through their love of the brand. Mary and I bonded quickly over our love for Disney Park vacations and adoration for adult cocktails. When I found out she’d be visiting one of my “bucket list” vacation locations, Aulani – A Disney Resort & Spa, I thought it would be great to have her Guest write a Disney Drink Of The Day post exclusive to the island resort…
I love reading Lauren’s blog, especially when she posts her “Disney Drink of the Day”. I’ve been known to enjoy a frosty beverage or two and Disney has a good share of really tasty drinks. My husband, son and I had a wonderful trip this summer that included nine nights at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. Hawaii and Disney – the perfect combination!
The ‘Ōlelo Room at Aulani is a bar/lounge that offers appetizers and drinks along with live entertainment each evening. There were many tropical drinks to experience, but one of them was not on any menu. If you are a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member, you may know about this.
I had heard about this mystery drink prior to our trip so I had to ask about it. Yes indeed, there is a DVC Member-exclusive drink. We even had to show our DVC membership card. The drink is called the Pu’U Kilo Punch. They even offered a non-alcoholic version of it to my 13-year-old son. It is a sweeter drink, similar to fruit punch, but with a kick. I enjoyed it, but I think my favorite drink was the Blue Hawaiian. How could you not love a drink with paradise in its name and made with fresh pineapple juice? Sigh. The color of the drink even reminds me of the amazing ocean just steps away. The Blue Hawaiian at The ‘Ōlelo Room is made with Hawaii’s own Organic Ocean Vodka, Old Lahaina Silver Rum, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice and House-made Sweet-and-Sour.
Pu’U Kilo Punch shares a name with the centerpiece of Aulani’s magnificent pool area. You can learn more about it on the Disney Parks Blog: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2015/02/unforgettable-details-of-aulani-a-disney-resort-spa-puu-kilo/
