2019 Mazda CX-9 Review

As the owner of a 2016 model, the Mazda CX-9 is one of my favorite cars to continue to review. It’s neat to see what changes they make each year and fall in love with my mom-mobile all over again. The 2019 Mazda CX-9 Signature offers the same safety features that I adore, along with a few updates that make this model an even better family car choice.

Safety First

One of the reasons we chose the Mazda CX-9 for our daily driver is safety. The CX-9 has driver assisted technology such as assisted braking, blind spot monitoring and rear, cross traffic alert. The top trims also offers pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and lane assist. Specific to the Signature trim, you’ll find  front and rear parking sensors and the new 360 degree camera, along with a great heads up display that includes traffic sign recognition.

Room For The Family

The third-row comes in handy for our family of five, as we occasionally shuttle extra friends and family along with us. The driver and passenger seats are extremely roomy and comfortable. Although we aren’t in need of it anymore, one of the biggest selling points in buying the Mazda CX-9 a few years ago was the fact that the 2nd row was wide enough for two car seats and a third person.

Fun To Drive

After safety and size, handling and comfort are important in a daily driver. If you don’t enjoy driving the car, then you aren’t going to want to get in it everyday and shuttling the family around will become even more mundane task. After 3-years of owning our Mazda CX-9, I can easily say that I still enjoy driving it. The turbo-charged, 4-cylinder engine saves gas, but still provides quite the “go.” The 2019 Mazda CX-9 offers smooth handling, accurate steering, a great turning radius and the 4-cylinder had no problem heading up mountain roads.

Mazda follows their motto of “By humans, for humans” with the design and detail of each model. They use a combination of Japanese mastery in craftsmanship and a human-centric design in order to ensure very element is designed around the driver. Not only is comfort key, but each control is precisely located to ” create a seamless connection with the vehicle.” This connection offers the driver confidence and control in operating the vehicle.
