As a Colorado native, I know that Halloweens are usually frigid! Even as a kid I remember adding as many layers as possible under or covering my entire costume up with a winter jacket. It’s definitely not the most ideal climate for trick-or-treating most years. We’ve visited Great Wolf Lodge this time of year for our Halloween fix and this year might just be the same. Check out my top 5 spooktacular reasons to visit Great Wolf Lodge during Halloween… I mean Howl-O-Ween!
Here are our top 5 spooktacular reasons to visit Great Wolf Lodge at Halloween:
1. Nightly Trick-or-Treat Trail
Yep, you heard me right…NIGHTLY! Our kids put on their costumes and filled their goodie bags not once, but on back to back nights. They had such a great time! Not only do you find employees dressed in their favorite costumes passing out treats, but the trail also includes games or activities at each location.
2. Halloween Crafts
It’s no surprise that we are a crafty family and our trips to Great Wolf Lodge are no different. My kiddos always enjoy taking a break from the water park to de-prune and dry off, so craft time is the perfect opportunity to schedule just that. We’ve made pins, custom wolf ears, friendship bracelets and more. During Howl-o-ween, they featured Halloween crafts like bat bags made from paper plates or special activities like face painting.
3. Boo Bingo & Howl – O – Ween Trivia
Show off your inner gamer skills at these twist-on-a-classic games. Yell Boo! when you get 5-in-a-row or use your bat-tastic Halloween knowledge to answer trivia questions as a whole family.
4. Halloween Dance Parties
After completing the Trick-or-Treat Trail in the evenings, you can head to the Monster Bash Dance Party and boogie your wolf tails off. After a big day playing at the Adventure Park and Water Park, with the added excitement of Howl-O-Ween and trick-or-treating, this is a great way to get the last of their excitement and wiggles out before bed. It’s amazing how the whole area gets in on the dancing fun.
5. UnBOOlievable Decorations
From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the 40-foot black widow sizing you up as her pray, you know that you’re in for a howling Halloween time. Don’t be worried, over 2600 balloons make this spider more cute than creepy and she’s just the beginning of the special decorations. The lobby is also home to the Howl-O-Ween House, the employee pumpkin display and more. Cobwebs and decorations decorate the halls and your favorite Great Wolf Lodge character friends even make appearances in costume.
Halloween is More Than Just A Holiday
It is the start of the holiday season. For those that love the holidays as much as our family and those looking for fun family activities so they don’t have to freeze on Halloween, booking a stay at Great Wolf Lodge is perfect. There are so many ways to make it affordable. Plus, when you book one night, you really get two full days to play.

We just got a Great Wolf Lodge in our area in May. I was able to go during the Howloween and absolutely loved it. They had so many cool things to do with the kids. I am looking forward to going back.

Loved reading your post on Great Wolf Lodge! It has always been a place I wanted to visit with my boys, they are nature lovers, so I know this would have been right up the tree for them. But they are adults now and so, I look forward to hopefully going with my nieces and nephews next year after reading this spooktacular article!

Thank you, Ellen! I think you’d still have a fun time as a family! I swear my husband has as much fun as our kiddos!
