As a movie fan (and a Disney fan,) I can’t tell you how excited I am about 2015. It is going to be an incredible year for Walt Disney Pictures, beginning just after the new year with the Lucasfilm/Touchstone Pictures movie, Strange Magic, and ending with an epic finale: Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Those two are exciting enough, but the year’s plans also hold the anticipated releases of Cinderella, Tomorrowland, Monkey Kingdom and Ant-Man, just to name a few. 2015 is going to be magical year, indeed. Here is a complete list of the Walt Disney Pictures releases:
Strange Magic – January 23, 2015
From the mind of George Lucas, this adorably animated film is based on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Sing along to your favorites and watch the colorful cast of fantasy creatures battle over a powerful potion. I am particularly excited to see Marius de Vries (Moulin Rouge) as the musical director and composer.
McFarland, USA – February 20, 2015
Whenever Kevin Costner has a dream it usually produces a great film. In this movie, inspired by a true story, Costner plays Coach Jim White a newcomer to a predominantly Latino community. Through running, the coach and the athletes end up learning a lot about each other and together learn about determination and overcoming the odds. It is a feel good, inspirational movie for the whole family.
Cinderella – March 13. 2015
Cinderella just happens to be my favorite Disney Princess, so I am more than a little excited about the release of this anticipated film. Cate Blanchett, Lily James, Richard Madden and Helena Bonham Carter lead the cast in this remake of the beloved Disney animated classic.
Monkey Kingdom – April 17, 2015
Read my post all about these cute little monkeys here!
Avengers: Age of Ultron – May 1, 2015
“When Tony Stark jump-starts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s
Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as they battle to save the planet from destruction at the hands of the villainous Ultron.”
Tomorrowland – May 22, 2015
All I need to know is that George Clooney stars in this “riveting mystery adventure” and I am sold, but the story and the trailer of this movie really intrigue me. I can’t wait to see it.
“In Disney’s riveting mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” a jaded scientist and an optimistic teen embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space.”
Inside Out – June 19, 2015
The director of Up and Monsters Inc. takes us on a new adventure – inside our minds! We follow Riley’s journey from the Midwest to San Francisco and find that her emotions are controlled by the “Headquarters” in her brain. The Headquarters are her central command center and help advise her through everyday life. We’ve all had those conversations in our head so we can all relate with Riley and her struggles with adjusting to a new place.
Ant-Man – July 17, 2015
“The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the
big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” when master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.”
The Jungle Book – October 9, 2015
The Jungle Book was my grandpa’s favorite animated Disney movie and I have very fond memories of watching it with him growing up. Needless to say, this is another 2015 Walt Disney Pictures release I am very excited about.
Untitled Steven Spielberg Cold War Spy Thriller – October 16, 2015
The Good Dinosaur – November 25, 2015
What if the asteroid missed the earth completely? Follow Arlo, an adorable Apatosaurus, on his journey of adventure, self-discovery and unlikely friendships.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens – December 18, 2015
This requires no words, my excitement as I anxiously await December is immeasurable. This is the trailer you are looking for. You may want to bookmark this one, I watch it daily.
