At first, I must admit, I was a little skeptical of this Mommy Reality challenge. Though, as I thought about it, I decided my night stand is very much like my purse and probably tells a lot about me just from the contents. While I don’t have any baby teeth (Ew, Jen!) I do have it over-flowing with items and more than once it has become my “Night” in shining armor in the dark of the well…night.
First, I have the standard books. The Bible and the current paperback I have been flipping through, “Mothers-Through the Eyes of Women Writers.” Both of these have come to the rescue during sleepless nights. Next, we have diapers, wipes and baby lotion. Someday, I know I will miss the day that my littlest wakes me up at 2 a.m. for a diaper change. Even now, though I may be tired and groggy, there is something peaceful and heart-warming about hearing the tiny pitter-patter of her baby feet tip-toeing into my room. Lastly, the cups. My husband teases me for the amount of cups usually stacked precariously on my night stand. I tell him I’m just preparing for an alien encounter like in “Signs.” Truth be told, the kids and I like chilled water before bed (and sometimes in the middle of the night) and in the rush of the morning, I always forget to take the glasses downstairs. Seriously though, you can never be too prepared for an alien attack. Not pictured on the inside, I have mints, chapstick, a million bobby pins, and a bunch of clutter. Although all these items seem simple, they all happen to be there for a purpose and when the baby needs a dry behind, or my lips are dry, or I am feeling parched in the middle of the night, my night stand comes to the rescue and nothing is more than an arms reach away!
Show us what your night stand holds and join all the others having fun on these Mommy Reality challenges. Hope to see you there!

Awesome Lauren! At least you don’t have a pile of books like me! I collect cups too! Except for some reason when I took the picture of my nightstand, I didn’t have any out.
Thanks so much for participating in the #MommyReality challenge!
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
xoxo

If I have that many books I don’t have room for all of my cup stacking…lol!

I think you are onto something BIG here Lauren. How have I overlooked my very important motherly duties of preparing my children for an alien attack? Seriously that should be our next Mommy Reality theme ” How do you prepare your family for alien attacks?” Love your knight in shinning armor! Does your husband ever get jealous of how very useful your bedside table is 🙂
Lauren
Haha! Oh, goodness! Now, THAT would be hilarious. No, the hubby doesn’t get jealous. He’s very sweet and if I happen to forget my cup, he’s the Prince Charming who will go get me one. 🙂

I was JUST thinking about the new theme challenge for this Friday and maybe “How to prepare children for an alien attack” should be it! Hmmm!
I’m guilty of the cup thing, except with water bottles. I just happened to snap a pic when I had just the one.
Lauren
You gals crack me up. What about what home renovation would you do if you could? Gourmet kitchen, outdoor living space, master bedroom retreat? I watch too much HGTV and dream about these things all day.

I have a cousin who has the cup problem too – I honestly don’t even know where she gets that many cups, she has like a dozen stacked up at a time. And chapstick in the middle of the night is so necessary, though I usually have to dig mine out of a pocket of my jeans – I really need a nightstand.
Lauren
So glad to hear I’m not the only preparing for an attack, lol. I start to notice I must have a ton when my kitchen cupboard is empty. 🙂

Hi Lauren, you are well and truly prepared for that alien attack! And if they do attack you can always lob a few cups at them!
Lauren
Preparation is key, Deb. I keep reminding my hubby of how the movie ended. One of these days he’ll appreciate my mess…I mean my planning.

Thanks for sharing this! It is wonderful to see a Bible on the nightstand. It says a lot about a person – I knew I liked you. Can’t wait to meet in person next month.
Lauren
Thank you, Patty! I can’t wait to meet you too! 20 days! Eek!
