Colorado’s Arapaho Valley Ranch is continuing its ongoing renovations by adding two yurts to its lineup of glamping options and accepting reservations for the new accommodations.
The guest ranch is located in Grand County at the south end of Lake Granby in the Arapaho National Forest and has been operating since 1945.
Measuring 24 feet in diameter, the yurts feature two queen beds and a full-size futon. They include a camp kitchen box with plates, silverware, frying pan, mugs, cooking utensils and cooler as well as a French press. Guests can cook on a two-burner camping stove or a small personal barbecue that come with each yurt. Propane is provided.
“With plenty of room to spread out, families and friends groups can enjoy a classic Colorado camping experience without sacrificing creature comforts,” said Hayden Hughes, ranch manager. “These yurts are the perfect complement to our glamping tents and tipis.”
The ranch offers cabins year-round while the glamping tents, tipis, yurts and tent and RV camp sites are available Memorial Day weekend through early October.
Other glamping options include 19 glamping tents constructed of canvas on raised wooden platforms and featuring private decks, firepits, one or two queen beds and a futon with bedding. The ranch’s three canvas tipis are placed on raised decks and feature a queen bed and two cots with bedding. The 22 tent sites, most situated right on the banks of the South Fork of the Colorado River, and 12 RV sites, some with hookups, round out the seasonal accommodations.
The ranch also features nine cabins – including historic cabins, modern cabins and sustainably built tiny home cabins – that sleep from four to 18 persons. Amenities include grills, fire pits, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, silverware and tableware, refrigerators, stoves, microwaves ovens and coffee makers.
Although the ranch is within an easy drive of regional attractions like Winter Park Ski Area and the charming town of Grand Lake, its remote setting allows for peaceful relaxation-inducing experiences like stargazing, forest bathing and digital detox. The drive time is two hours and 15 minutes from Denver, three hours from Fort Collins, three hours from Colorado Springs and a half hour from Granby.
The heart of the ranch is the main lodge which was built in the early 1900s and renovated multiple times over the years. The lodge has two living rooms, a stone fireplace, billiards room, store and the Red Dog Saloon, affectionately called “Colorado’s Smallest Bar.” Decks and patios include a fire pit and seating areas.
