A few Holiday Shipping Tips to help ensure your gifts get where they are going all in one piece!
Black Friday and Cyber Monday have now come and gone. Wow. I’m sure you’re pretty relieved to get some great deals and check at least a few items off your list. However, there is something new to worry about– shipping those items to your friends and family! I know, I know, you can always have the companies ship the items directly, but what’s fun and personal about that?
My hubby and I happen to own a local moving company, so I have quite a bit of experience packaging items in boxes securely. Here are my top tips for making sure your items arrive to their destination in one piece.

Choose The Right Sized Box
If the box is too small you won’t have enough room to properly protect the item, but if the box is too big you’ll either have too much “dead space” or need to spend extra to fill it. You’ll also spend more to ship a larger package. Spend the extra time to find just the right balance of room for the item you’re sending.
Fill Every Gap
The reason items are usually broken is not because the outside of the box gets struck, but more likely that the internal contents shifted or collided with each other in transit. Strategically place each item in the box and use plenty of fillers such as bubble wrap, packing peanuts or paper.
Make Sure You Tape The Box Securely
This sounds like a no-brainer, but I’ve had my fair share of packaging tape mishaps. For heavy duty shipping or moving applications, I recommend Duck Max Strength Packaging Tape. It’s 100 times stronger than acrylic tapes, offers professional hot melt adhesive and is in an 8-pack for less than $20! It’s good for business and for our wallet.
Once you’ve taken the time to find the right box, carefully filled the box and taped it securely with the Duck Max Strength Packaging Tape, you are ready to send it. You’ll have the peace of mind knowing your gift is on it’s way, properly packaged for it’s journey, no matter if it’s across town or across the world.
Don’t Forget About Those Decorations
Once the holidays are over, the Duck Max Packaging Tape also comes in handy for sealing up boxes of decorations. Re-seal the bottoms of those boxes prior to filling to make sure they stay secure and dust free in storage. Don’t forget to tape the tops once you’ve filled them, too!
Happy Holidays!
