Last week, I wrote a post about all of the amazing Walt Disney Pictures movie releases scheduled for 2015. It is seriously going to be a phenomenal year! Fairy Tales, Marvel, Star Wars and more–I can’t wait to get to the box office and start watching. (The first released, Strange Magic, is January 23!) This summer especially, is guaranteed to be amazing by starting off the season with Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, at the beginning of May, and ending July with Ant-Man.
I love the Avengers movies and I was really intrigued by Ant-Man. Even a week ago, I didn’t have much more information than a one-line description and a mysterious picture of Paul Rudd. (Swoon!) I’ll be honest, I didn’t know all that much about this character, so I did a little research. Ant-Man originally appeared in the January 1962 volume of Tales to Astonish. Although, Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym was the first Ant-Man, the role has been assumed by various others linked to Pym over the years. Together with his girlfriend, Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp), Hulk, Thor and Iron Man they founded the Avengers which debuted in September of 1963. In the new movie, Pym (Michael Douglas) mentors Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and teaches him the secrets and abilities of his astonishing Ant-Man suit. Master-thief Lang, must then embrace his inner-hero (fueled by the love of his daughter) to complete a magnificent heist that will save the world.
Like the rest of the Marvel movies, this one looks amazing! My husband will associate with the Daddy-Hero fighting to protect his little Princess, I will really enjoy watching the adorable Paul Rudd and I know my 10-year-old will definitely be excited to get this summer started for more than just the school break!

Hooray!! Thanks for sharing! My family is huge Avengers fans. We were bummed when he wasn’t pulled into the movies like he was in the animated version. Now my daughter just wants a Wasp movie 🙂

Yes, a Wasp movie would be incredible! Who would you or your daughter choose to play her? It would have to be someone strong, but also a believable love interest to Paul Rudd…Jennifer Lawrence perhaps? Or Katee Sackhoff? Or???
