I am one of those people who makes the resolution to get fit and healthy every New Year. I do pretty well at first, but then, like most, I get lost in the hustle and bustle of life and don’t quite meet my goals. This year I have vowed to be different and after a month into a healthier lifestyle I am still doing great. I have shed about 10 pounds so far and although my current wardrobe is definitely fitting a little looser, the “skinny” pre-children clothes are still pretty far off. It’s discouraging. I was visiting my friend’s blog, JENerallyInformed.com, when I noticed a post about her new dress and an absolutely adorable picture. She is a great looking gal, but from the picture, you could tell she felt beautiful in this dress and I commented to tell her so. I decided that I should celebrate my accomplishment of sticking to my regime by giving myself a little reward dress. The only problem was that I am kind of in between sizes and I loathe going to the store and trying on item after item.  Imagine my surprise when a few days after I left my comment on Jen’s blog, eShakti.com reached out to me offering me a custom-made piece to review!

I picked this Little Black Dress. Something I wouldn’t normally pick out, but a great piece to say “I deserve this!” or “I’m ready for a night out!” Instead of guessing what size I was, I chose the custom size creator and was amazed at how easy it was to take all of my measurements (with the help of my hubby) and enter them into the form. Although they aren’t exactly the numbers I was hoping for, it was reassuring to know I would have a piece of clothing that fit me and my body shape. I loved that I was able to also choose the sleeve length because I prefer a little longer sleeves and find cap-sleeves aren’t very flattering unless you’re arms are more toned than mine. The skirt length was another custom option. I was able to choose a just above the knee length that would keep the dress fun and flirty without worrying about my bum being exposed.

As soon as it arrived in the mail I was excited to try it on! It fits very well. I feel lighter, a little peppier and maybe just a little bit better about myself. I love the design and the flowing skirt. I just can’t help but twirl around like a toddler when I have it on. Having a dress custom-created to fit all of my shapes and curves, just right, definitely made feel more confident and was just the reward I needed to continue working on a better me. Oh, and I can’t forget the pockets! This dress has huge pockets which I love. It’s nice not having to worry about a clutch or pocketbook all night.  I will surely be back in another month or two to create a different celebratory addition to my wardrobe when my measurements are just a little closer to my goals.
