27-years-ago today, “Into the Woods” premiered on Broadway. The musical would continue for well over 700 performances, winning several awards including a few from the esteemed Tony Awards and the Drama Desk awards. It is easy to say that not only was it a great play, but it was also extremely successful — capturing the hearts of many throughout the world.
It’s a story I have been quite fond of since I was a child and that is why I am anxiously waiting to see the new, Disney Pictures full-length feature film this Christmas. I was intrigued as soon as I heard about the project, but once they announced the actors, my ears really perked up. Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blount and several other stars lead the amazing cast. If those names aren’t enough to spark your interest, then how about the fact that the tale terrifically intertwines some of your most beloved childhood Fairy Tales including: Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood? The story-telling and pure cinematic beauty of this movie are going to be incredible. I am thrilled to be able to share a few photos and the latest trailer, and would love to hear your thoughts. Are you excited? Are you familiar with the story? Are you going to see it on opening day?
