Over our last several trips to the Walt Disney World Resort I have become fairly familiar with the “standard pool bar menu” while “researching” our Disney Drink Of The Day posts. Although many of the options are truly delicious and my favorite “go-to” drinks, I was in need of something new to try.
As I approached Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill at Disney’s Yacht Club & Beach Club Resorts last week, I flipped through the Rolodex (dating myself a bit here) of familiar favorites in my head, trying to choose which one to order. Imagine my surprise once I reached the bar and found new drinks had been added to the menu! The Sunken Treasure was the first tasty concoction I ordered from the new offerings and its tropical taste was a deliciously perfect way to kick off our trip.
The Sunken Treasure offers a sweet combination of Malibu coconut rum, Midori melon liquor, tropical juices and Sprite with a float of Bols Blue Curacao. By the time I got back up to our room and took this picture of it, the colors had mixed together, but when first poured the blue float creeps towards the bright bottom and it looks like gold buried at the bottom of a murky blue sea. Pretty fun! The taste is light and tropical, fairly sweet, but with a nice kick from the three liquors. I was surprised to find Malibu listed as until now I had only ever seen Parrot Bay Coconut Rum offered on property.
Splurging on calories and money to enjoy Disney signature cocktails while on our magical vacations makes me happy. I love sampling them and then sharing them with others who look forward to finding the tasty treats on their next trip “home.”
It’s truly touching when friends and family send me photos of their drinks and share the story and flavors with me. If you’re a fellow Disney drink lover, I’d love to hear where you are and what you’re enjoying! Please send me a message or share with the hashtag #DDOTD.
