Nutella seems to be one of those flavors people have strong feelings about. You are either like me who tends to lick the jar clean, or like my mom who despises the stuff. My family adores it and therefor I am always looking for new ways to incorporate it into our recipes. Banana bread and banana bread muffins are always popular for a quick make-ahead breakfast or snack and are even more tasty with this addition. This Nutella-swirled banana bread has become our family favorite.
First, I make a batch of banana bread using the ingredients and recipe below:
3 mashed, over-ripe bananas
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup applesauce
3/4 cup honey
2 eggs
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease the loaf pan. Mix together the dry ingredients and set aside. In a separate bowl stir together the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir to mix.
Now comes the part to add the yummy Nutella. Separate the batter into two equal portions. Stir 1/2 cup of Nutella into one portion of the batter. Once mixed completely, alternate layering the plain banana bread and the Nutella banana bread into your greased loaf pan. Once you have used all of the batter or your loaf pan is 3/4 of the way full, use a knife or skewer to swirl a pattern into the batter. Have fun with it, there is no right or wrong way! Let cook in the oven for about an hour or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
I hope your Nutella-loving family enjoys this treat as much as mine does. Please let me know how it turns out if you make it, be sure to share a picture.
Enjoy!

Hi Chris! It’s a super easy recipe, so I am sure it will come out delicious! I use room temperature Nutella and I think substituting agave should still work just fine. Please let me know how it turns out! Thanks for stopping by!
