For the last 3 years I have happily been a stay-at-home mommy. I love everyday and relish the opportunity to spend so much time with my kids, but as any parent would probably agree –sometimes we just need a break. In almost three and a half years, the hubby and I had never spent a night somewhere without the kids and knew it was finally time to enjoy an evening alone. We discussed where to go and what to do, but decided for peace-of-mind (probably more our than theirs) we would stay close. So, as a late anniversary date, we planned our first “sleep-away” at the Colorado Springs Marriott.
We have stayed at this particular Marriott a few times over the years, for family stay-cations. In fact, several years ago, we held our wedding reception there and spent our first night as newlyweds in a beautiful Balcony Suite. We love the hotel because of the delicious dining options, the pool, the rooms and the wonderful service. It didn’t surprise me at all that this stay was no exception to our great experiences, so I wanted to share what about this particular Marriott location we absolutely adore.
Making your reservation online is extremely simple and from the moment you walk into the beautiful lobby to check in, you are treated like a valued individual, a Guest rather than a customer. Immediately you are greeted and welcomed. For our last stay, I happened to note on the reservation that we were celebrating and we were quickly congratulated by the desk employee and notified that we had been given an upgrade from our Standard Room to a Mountain-View Junior Suite, to help enjoy our special stay. With my love for Disney, I tend to judge customer service based on their standards and with the warm and personable welcome this hotel gives its Guests, I would definitely say it ranks pretty darn high. The rooms are always clean, odor-free and very inviting, and even though I live here, the mountain views are still breathtaking.
The hotel has only a few Balcony Suites, but if you are lucky enough to book one, the view is beautiful from any side of the hotel. These rooms sit high atop the 9th floor (Concierge Level) and have a full panoramic view of the mountains or much of Colorado Springs.
Other than the view, one of my favorite room features is the bed. So comfortable! Fluffy, billowy, soft, supportive, snuggly…those are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking about them. They are truly wonderful and I could just stay in bed the whole visit, especially with Room Service! I don’t know what it is and please tell me I am not alone, but I love Room Service. The dining options at the Colorado Springs Marriott are absolutely delicious. Zebulons’s Grill and Tequileria is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and although they specialize in Southwest Cuisine, there is something for everyone. I love to wake up to breakfast in bed, but the incredible breakfast buffet is worth getting out of bed for. Filled with eggs, potatoes, bacon, fruits, cheeses, an oatmeal bar, and much more, it is always fresh and always delicious. The Tequileria is a wonderful bar, offering not only tequila but many other spirits including local beers. It is a great place to relax in the evenings or take your drink and settle into a cushy seat next to the fire. The pool, hot tub, fitness room and sauna are all very nice and great for a relaxing soak or for letting the kids splash around. It’s wonderful to have an indoor heated pool to play in during our cold, Colorado weather.
On every occasion, if there was any reason we were not fully satisfied about something, the employees have always gone above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We never felt like a nuisance or bother, but have always felt like welcome Guests visiting old friends. The Colorado Springs Marriott is a wonderful place to take the family, enjoy a relaxing weekend, or even to get away for just a night. We’ll be returning soon and I hope you’ll pay them a visit the next time your visiting Colorado Springs or are ready for a night out.

Good for you! I think in the past 13 years we have had one night alone together away from kids. That’s sad!! What a beautiful hotel!

Oh, that is sad! I definitely think a couples weekend is in store for you! Although, you have some pretty adorable kids, so I see why they are so hard to leave.:)
