Toy Story Land – More than a movie, a cherished connection
Disney is all about storytelling, right? From the movies to the parks, resorts and practically everything it’s all about telling a story through even the finest details. I love all things Disney, but there are certain movies, attractions and details that really tug at my heart strings. Toy Story is one of those things.
Toy Story was the first movie I watched together with my step-son. The first Halloween as a family, he was Buzz Lightyear. The next year, Woody (with our dog as Buzz). It’s always been a special movie to our family and as he’s grown over the years, well, let’s just say so have the amount of tears when we watch it (mine of course.) In just a blink of the eye, we’ll be packing him up for college and while Toy Story 3 makes me bawl like a baby now, I know I’m really in for some trouble then. I’m excited for every new land (Hello, Pandora,) but Toy Story Land is more than just a favorite movie, it’s a connection I cherish.
Enough about my story, obviously I’m excited, but Toy Story Land will be an awesome 11-acre addition for every Guest. I’ve read every Disney Parks Blog Post, all the news from D23, press releases and any other information I can get my hands on. Here are 5 fun facts I think everyone should know about the new land.

1. Guests Will Feel Like They’re The Size Of A Green Army Soldier
While you may feel small in Toy Story Land, the adventure certainly won’t be. Disney Imagineers have created a larger than life playground for toys and you’re invited.

2. Explore Andy’s Backyard
Andy’s backyard makes for an incredible setting. Here you’ll find items he’s built or left out. We all know what happens when humans aren’t watching, so you can bet the toys have turned these items into fun.

3. “Honorary Toys” Can Grab A Bite At Woody’s Lunch Box
All this playing will definitely create an appetite. Woody’s Lunchbox is a Quick Service location that will offer American fare including old-fashioned floats and Toy Story-themed favorites.

4. Two New Attractions And An Improved Favorite
Take a ride on the new Slinky Dog Dash. Andy’s assembled and left out is Mega Coaster Play Kit and Slinky Dog just can’t resist taking Guests, I mean Honorary Toys, on a trip. It’s promised to be a fun coaster for the whole family.

Next you’ll find Alien Swirling Saucers. Spin around the galaxy with everyone’s favorite green aliens and maybe you’ll be chosen by the Claw..ooohhhh!
Finally, a Guest favorite, Toy Story Mania! has been upgraded and will now have a new entrance and a third track. Let the healthy family competition begin.

5. A Whimsical Visual Celebration
The whole land will transport you back to your childhood. You’ll all be able to pick out and share your favorite toys. Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, View-Masters, Jenga, TinkerToys and other familiar toys and game pieces have all been incorporated into the land’s design. It will be an adventure just finding and reminiscing about all of them!

A Few More Fun Facts Straight From Disney:
- More than 400 toy blocks fill Andy’s backyard.
- In Toy Story Land, Andy’s footprint is about 25 feet long or the equivalent of a size 240 shoe.
- It would take a Green Army Man roughly 12 steps just to travel the length of one of Andy’s shoeprints.
- You would need a backpack the size of a school bus to carry the Buzz and Woody figures that tower over Toy Story Land.
- The weight of the Slinky Dog Dash track and support columns weighs almost as much as 125,000 gallons of milk.
- Together Rex and the Jenga Tower are as tall as 7½ Green Army Men standing on top of one another.
