Pretty isn’t it? When the DriveShop representative showed up with the 2016 Kia Optima Turbo to review, my first thought was, “Wow! I really like the body style and look of this car!” It’s not boxy, or too overly designed. It has the right lines in the right places and looks stylish and sleek.
Open up the doors and and the impressive design continues. The upscale interior is enhanced by elegant touches making you feel like your getting true quality for your bottom dollar. Contrast stitching, a touch-screen display, and the large, panoramic sun-roof are only a few of the enhancements adding to the luxurious feel.
Add to them a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and built-in, retractable sun shades for the rear windows and you start wondering if you’re truly driving a mid-sized sedan or a luxury car. Safety wise the 2016 Kia Optima Turbo boasts not only a rear back-up camera, but also a 360 degree view showing you your complete surroundings. While your eyes are always the best at checking the area around you, it’s nice to see how close you are while parallel parking or fitting into a tight space.
Along with amenities to spare, the 2016 Kia Optima Turbo boasts room to spare. There is impressive leg room for the front and rear passengers, plus a healthy amount of cargo space in the trunk. We drove to Cripple Creek with some family and all 3 adult passengers commented on the smooth and comfortable ride. Do you know what else they commented on?
Yep, the turbo! Heading up two-lane mountain passes you’re inevitably going to get stuck behind a bus or other slow vehicle. Curvy turns with steep drop-offs always make me nervous, but the 2016 Kia Optima held tightly to the corners and really impressed when it was time to pass. The turbo kicks in almost immediately and really gives the 4-cylinder engine some power. 0-60 MPH is estimated under 7-seconds.
All in all, Kia has really stepped up their family-sized sedan game with this model. I think it definitely compares closely to the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The 2016 Kia Optima Turbo has a very impressive look and equally as remarkable features making it a strong contender for the $22K+ price point.
